9-22-15: I just saw one of those ivory tower guys on Oklahoma’s public broadcast system. He was having a round table discussion with Dick Pryor and other government sector “experts” like himself. They recognized that “13 of Oklahoma inmates have ‘mental issues’” and opined that they were helping the problem by appropriating more taxpayer dollars to “stepped-up suicide watches”.

Since I have lived in the middle of their problem of “too many captives wishing to kill themselves” for over 40 years, I opine slightly differently than Oklahoma’s experts. It’s not a “mental issue” when you are forced into an environment that does not permit access to the basic necessities of life. The problem is the conditions of confinement, not how extremely the captive’s brain must become in order to choose to suffer it decade after decade.

One example that these government and media experts should contemplate for clues occurs when one of their young children captures some small woodland creature, such as a lizard or bird. He puts it in a jar with air holes, or a box, then forgets about it. Eventually, he quits playing at other things to visit his prisoner. He tries to force it to drink and eat. Eventually it dies. Did the lizard or bird have ‘mental issues’?

For myself, I’m pretty sure that, when you violate the laws of nature, nature responds by dying. It seems to me that these ivory tower people have not stated the problem accurately. It’s not that their prisoners have ‘mental issues’ so much that killing yourself is the natural response to unbearable suffering brought on by crimes against nature, such as intolerable crowding, unconscionable sensory deprivation, isolation from familial contact, deliberate social crippling through the prevention of outside discourse, purposefully administered, daily, grinding harassment through use of noise, poison gas, shackles and similar “restraint-type torture devices, unpalatable ‘food’, inadequate medical access, outrageous financial exploitation…

This is only the very tip of the mountain of reason for captives to kill ourselves. These experts should count themselves lucky to have any live victims at all!
